Diet:

Omnivorous. Fruit, flowers, nectar, seeds, gums, insects, spiders, lizards, bird eggs.

Habitat: Τropical rainforests.

Weight:  male: max 1.4kg , female: max 1.2kg


Dimensions: head to body male max 37cm, female max 34cm tail length: 36-40cm


Gestation: 160-170 days, 1 young at each birth.


Lifespan: ~21 years


Social structure: Groups of 20 up to 100 animals.


Estimated population in the wild: Common - decreasing


IUCN Status: Least Concern


Threats: Trapping for the pet trade, deforestation.


Did you know that:

  1. Some temporary relationships may form between a mother with no infant and another female's infant. These older females become "aunts".
  2. Fathers are completely uninvolved with their youngsters' upbringing.
