Threats: Population in decline due to predation by feral cats and rats.

Did you know that:

  1. As with all other pigeons and doves, the green-winged dove produces crop milk. When the chicks are born, they poke their bills into the parent’s throat and drink it. This proves to be a great advantage as parents do not have to constantly forage for food.
  2. They are mainly ground dwellers. Their slender beak is especially adapted for eating seeds.
