Mauritania E to Ethiopia and S to Namibia and South Africa.


Diet:

Carrion and small insects.


Facts

Lives in open woodlands and savannas in altitudes of up to 4,000m. The colour of its face betrays the bird's emotions, turning to red when excited.
Wing span is up to 1,82m.

Endangered. Population declining due to capture for traditional medicine and bushmeat and direct persecution.

You can see this species in our park only in the birds of prey flight.
