Distribution
Islets of extreme S South America and Tierra del Fuego.
Diet:
Dead seabirds, insects and grubs along tidal zone. Also attacks weak or stranded sheep, and in groups wild geese.
Facts
Lives in open lowlands, from tidal zone to low coastal mountains. Typically found along rocky coasts. Clever and curious, the Striated Caracara always develops novel ways of finding food.
Near threatened. Heavily persecuted in the past by sheep farmers as a pest.
