Habitat:  Grassy areas on offshore islands, edges of lakes and lagoons

Social structure: Small flocks, rarely >300 birds, pairs during the breeding season.


Weight: male up to 5kg, female up to 3kg


Dimensions: 75-100cm


Lifespan: ~17


Estimated population in the wild: 16,000-18,000


Threats: There are no major threats for this species.


IUCN Status: Least concern
