Omnivore. Leaves, tender shoots of shrubs, leaves and shoots of bamboo, rhododendron flowers, spiders, insects.
Habitat: Mountains and valleys with shrubs and bamboo.
Incubation: 22-23 days / 6-8 eggs
Social structure: pairs or small groups
Weight: male 875g max, female 700g max
Dimensions: male 115cm max, female 70cm max
Estimated population in the wild: Fairly common
Threats: Τimber extraction, capture for the cagebird trade and over-hunting for food
IUCN Status: Least Concern
