Young Leaders

A Young Leader in the Zoo Camp program is older than the zoo campers and is enabled to develop a sense of responsibility and care for younger children.   A Young Leader will assist in the zoo camp with all activities, accompanying the children at all times, under the direct supervision of Education Center staff.  The program aims to provide to the Young Leaders zoological and pedagogical theory and practice, effective leadership, team-working and problem solving in order to enable them to develop their skills on these topics.  The program hours are 9am-4pm.

To participate in the program, students must:

  1. Fill out the brief application.
  2. Receive confirmation from the Education Center staff of acceptance to the program for the dates requested in the application form.

Young Researcher

This option aims to provide the participants with a sense of what zoologists, especially ethologists, do and how they might design and carry out a study to answer a particular question they have about a species or a particular animal.  The use of the scientific method and modifying a question such that it can be answered in measurable parameters, the process of collecting data, tabulating it and brainstorming with fellow Young Researchers, as well as discussing with the Head of Service Learning Program, is of great value in the learning achievements of a Young Researcher.  Students are able to focus on a particular animal of their choice and ask a question that is of interest to them.  The program hours are 9am-4pm

Registration Procedure for the Young Researcher option:

  1. Fill out the brief application.
  2. Receive confirmation from the Education Center staff of acceptance to the program.

Young Intern

A "Young Intern" receives training from the Education Center staff to care for the abandoned exotic pets we host in our space, to present basic physiological information of these species to visitors, as well as to talk about the animals' personal stories and how they came to us.  Furthermore, they learn how to communicate in an appropriate manner to visitors about protection of wildlife through improved human behavior and sustainable practices as well as any other logistical and office-related work that is required toward the above tasks. The program hours are 9am-4pm
