Hornbill Day - Sunday 15 Sept 2019

"Hornbills - colorful warriors of the forest"

These unique and rare birds that have a majestic bill, live in the tropical rainforest and play an important role in tropical ecology by spreading the seeds of trees.  Many species of hornbills are seriously threatened with extinction and the only way to save them is through breeding and re-introduction to the wild via programs in wildlife rescue centers and zoological parks.  Meet them up close and find out how our Park is contributing to their conservation on Sunday 15 Sept 2019.

World Rhino Day Sunday 22nd Sept 2019

"My horn belongs on my head!"

The characteristic horn on the nose of these shy giants is the main reason they are endangered in the wild. Their horns are in large demand, especially in SE Asia where it is mistakenly believed that rhino horn powder can cure cancer.  Thus people pay huge sums of money to the poachers. Of course, the truth is that rhino horn is made of keratin, the same material that our hair and nails are composed of. So please shout out "Their horn belongs on their head!" and visit us on Sunday 22nd September to meet them up close!

ACTIVITIES

12.30-15.30  arts and crafts outside the rhinos, feeding talk (3pm at the Rhinoceros)
