International Vulture Awareness Day

Here is a big “Thank You” to vultures!

If it wasn’t for them, we would have a lot more decay, smell and disease in the world!
WHY? Vultures are known as Nature’s Recyclers because they consume decaying meat and turn it into valuable nutrients for other organisms. They don’t get sick from their decaying food because they have very strong stomach acid that kills any nasty bacteria!

Join us on Sept 1st, International Vulture Awareness Day, for a free guided tour of the vultures of the Attica Zoological Park (tours last 30 minutes and start at 10:30 , 12:30 & 14:30).

The tours will begin at the Education Center next to the AZP Cafeteria. Please don’t hesitate to ask your guide if you require an English translation!
