New arrival at Attica Zoological Park!

2 male white rhinos are the new additions to the Attika Zoological Park’s great family.

The rhinoceros is the largest mammal on land after the elephant; it can measure up to 4 metres in length, and weighs from 1,500 to 3,000 kilograms. White rhinos have 2 horns on their snouts, and the front horn is considerably larger than the other one and is about 90cm long, but it can reach up to 1.50m.
They have a poor eyesight and, at a distance of over 30m, they are unable to distinguish a person not moving.
Females, after a 16-month pregnancy, give birth to one young which weighs about 65 kilograms. The calf stays with its mother for about 2 – 3 years, until she is ready to give birth to her next baby.
Their lifespan can reach 50 years.
