Dolphins are here!

Attica Zoological Park with pleasure welcomes its newest members, 4 dolphins, Chloe, Jason, Hermes and Kallia, as well as 2 Californian sea lions, Mara and Charlie.

These dolphins belong to the Dolphinidae family, and specifically to sub-species Tursiops truncatus ponticus, a species endemic in the Black Sea. They are found in Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.
They live in cold temperate to tropical seas. They have a hydrodynamic body, ideally adjusted for swift movement in the water, thanks to their extremely soft and hairless skin. They reach 2.3 - 3.8m in length and weigh about 150 - 300 kilograms.
They eat up to 10 kilograms of fish a day, mostly herring, mackerel and cod - also shrimp and cephalopods (nautilus, squid, cuttlefish and octopus).
Their lifespan is 25 - 50 years.
