The Which Fish? Campaign
Oceans cover ~ 70% of the Earth's surface and provide resources to millions of people. Human activities such as overfishing, destructive fishing practices and marine pollution are key threats to the ecosystem services and essential food resources that the oceans provide.
Fish and aquatic invertebrates are essential for human consumption and sustain coastal populations by providing income. We need to conserve and properly manage fish stocks to avoid massive losses. Furthermore, more and more marine animals struggle to find food due to overfishing.
"WhichFish?" focuses on implementing good working practices by zoos and aquaria, good consumption practices by people and on applying the shared objectives of marine biodiversity management and protection.
The campaign is developed along three different axes:
1) Human sustainable consumption
2) Sustainable animal feed
3) Collection planning for sustainable aquatic species
Chef JM Hoffmann for the Which Fish? campaign
Jean-Marie Hoffmann, Chef of the French Embassy in Athens, in collaboration with the Attica Zoological Park, supports the "Which Fish?" campaign, an international awareness campaign to promote sustainable fisheries and responsible consumption. Overfishing is a huge problem for wildlife at sea. By making some small adjustments we can make a difference.
